
Strengthening Leadership Across Africa
and Beyond with Non-profit Builder
As part of our ongoing collaboration with The Non-profit Builder (NPB), a platform dedicated to nonprofit capacity building, we have been actively supporting nonprofit and development leaders across Africa through a series of custom capacity-building initiatives.
We recently facilitated a four-session Joint Leadership Programme for Climate Justice Leaders with Gates Foundation grantees from eight African organisations, including AGNES, CORAF, ASARECA, African Climate Foundation, and PACJA. The programme combined interactive virtual workshops with executive coaching, strengthening leadership skills, emotional resilience, and peer networks. A highlight was the session on organisational culture, where participants explored how shared beliefs and behaviours shape how work gets done. Using the Busara Africa’s DAMAN Framework (Define, Assess, Model, Align, Nurture), they reflected on aligning culture with mission. Participants left equipped to lead change, strengthen teams, and create lasting impact within their organisations and across the climate justice sector.
In addition, we designed and facilitated a virtual Leadership Culture Session for Wildtrust, a South African non-profit dedicated to innovative conservation and development, helping senior leaders align around a shared vision for leadership. Using Busara’s DAMAN framework: Define, Assess, Model, Attract, Nurture, participants collaboratively co-created a Leadership Culture Charter, translating clarity of intent into practical actions and accountability.
We also delivered the NPB Quarterly Webinar Series, a 90-minute session on “The 5 Mindsets Required for Effective Leadership”. These webinars provide accessible, interactive leadership insights for a broader community of nonprofit and development leaders.
Through these initiatives, we continue to equip leaders with practical skills, deepen organisational capacity, and foster resilient networks, helping organisations translate vision into meaningful impact.
