Building Leadership Capacity at Wildtrust:
Strengthening Leaders Across Levels
Wildtrust, a South African non-profit dedicated to innovative conservation and development, recognised that rapid organisational growth was placing increasing demands on their senior and middle leadership team. To support sustainable leadership at all levels, Busara Africa designed and facilitated a series of leadership interventions, including a virtual Leadership Culture Session and two in-person programmes: the Advanced Leadership Programme for senior managers and the Aspire Leadership Programme for middle managers, held in Durban in November and December 2025 respectively.
The virtual Leadership Culture Session grounded senior leaders in a shared vision for Wildtrust’s leadership culture using Busara Africa’s DAMAN framework, which supports organisations to intentionally shape culture across five dimensions: Define, Assess, Model, Attract, and Nurture. Through collaborative mapping, leaders co-created a Leadership Culture Charter, moving from clarity of intent to practical actions and accountability.
Following this, Busara Africa facilitated two in-person programmes in Durban, South Africa: the Advanced Leadership Programme for senior managers and the Aspire Leadership Programme for middle managers. Across these immersive sessions, participants strengthened self-leadership, team management, and strategic influence while navigating real workplace challenges. Through practical exercises, reflection, and peer learning, leaders deepened relational intelligence, explored culture-shaping practices, and built resilience, equipping them to drive results, align teams, and reinforce WI’s aspirational leadership culture across all levels.
